Portrait of Eleanor Whitmore

Managing Partner. Estate Planning, Trusts & Probate

Eleanor Whitmore

Eleanor leads the private client group and has guided more than 1,900 Connecticut families through estate plans and administrations.

"A plan is only good if the people left behind can understand it."

Biography

Eleanor joined the firm her father founded in 1996 and became managing partner in 2011. Her practice centres on estate planning for business owners and multigenerational families, with particular depth in Connecticut estate and gift tax planning and succession for closely held companies.

Clients describe her as unhurried and direct. She is known for signing meetings that run long because every document gets explained, and for her annual review letters that translate tax law changes into what they mean for a specific family.

Eleanor is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a former chair of the Estates and Probate Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. She lectures regularly for the Hartford County Bar Association and serves on the board of a Hartford community foundation.
